31 October 2015 - New developments, and Happy Halloween!
Fall's in Full Swing
We had a lengthy summer here in Denver, with the warm weather extending into early October. The weather is a bit more 'Colorado common' these days (overcast and snowing one day, then a warm and sunny Fall day the next), so cycling and hiking are definitely in our plans.
Recent changes at Ingeniose include the addition of some HPC hardware to support both our development and commercial deployment (hosted solutions). We've also connected with state agencies outside of Colorado for the development of new and enhanced online education systems. We're thrilled at the prospect of building these systems, and this is only possible because of the wonderful ecosystem which has built up around this industry. Two projects which I would like to highlight: The Sakai Project and BigBlueButton. Sakai is a lean, robust, and modular education platform, and BigBlueButton is an extensive online lecture system. Together with a little 'magic' (read: Java code development), it's possible to create virtually anything needed to satisfy an online learning objective. In my experience as a professor, I fully believe that technology is only useful if a framework is given to both the instructor and students....throwing a bunch of interesting features at an audience really doesn't solve anything...it's 'the presentation'. We've found our niche in this market, substantially different from our HPC work, and I'm happy to support it.
